I realize I have a custom framing store.......but when you love a product as much as I love this you just have to carry it in your own store! I am serious people......serious about this salt. It is a gourmet sea salt blend made with fresh herbs and garlic. There are four different flavors, Southwest with fragrant cilantro, garlic, oregano, cumin and lime juice. I am just going to put it out there.....I am a bad blogger....I know, I know, my one fan is real excited I am back to my blog (hi mom) but I am going to put a little more effort into this thing. Summer was excellent and super duper busy but now Fall is in the air. Ok, ok, not today at 95 degrees.....whoa, that is hot. But football has started so it must be time for sweaters, boots, crockpot dinners, candles, and all that is fall!

New stuff at the Pear keeps coming in every day. Rob, my UPS man and I are buddies. When I see him pull up outside the shop my heart skips a beat. He is not hard on the eyes either......just sayin'. :) Cute new charms make the greatest girlfriend gift.

Check out the super cute yoga frogs. They are hilarious. Did I tell you I am into yoga? No, well I am only "into it" in my head. I really, really want to be into it but it hasn't happened quite yet. I did buy a mat and passes to Love Yoga in downtown Albany but still haven't actually gone. It is totally on my list tho so that should count for something. Soon, real soon. Promise.

Ahhh, cake pedestals......these are sooo cute. Vintage inspired which means, they used molds copied from the 1950's and made new ones! They are sooo cute with a little picture frame and nest on the coffee table for some height or on a bookshelf with candles on them or of course for any dessert in the kitchen...I use mine constantly and rotate them all over the house. LOVE.

I really was writing a post to let you know the fall candles are in. I just didnt have a picture of them to post with it....I just finished unpacking them. I swear you will never find a better pumpkin spice candle. It is the best! Other wonderful scents are Cider-n-cinnamon, almond biscotti, plumberry spice, home sweet home, pumpkin latte, cranberries-n-cloves, spicy cranberry......you just have to come take a sniff.

This turned out really cool.....it is a signed Joey Wong photo of him making a double play. It is double framed in two stacked frames, orange and black.

This is a collage of Senior pictures of Ms. Madeline. Uh, can you say hot? and Im not talking about my stellar framing.......plus she is a sweetie. Ok, the framing is pretty great too....metalic gold rice paper bottom mat, navy blue suede top mat with that cool aged gold frame.

Ok, how sweet is this? To make it even sweeter a really nice guy came in with this idea for his wife for Mother's day ALL BY HIMSELF. It turned out darling. They have three boys and both little t-shirts have the hospital names stamped on them. He said, "Couldn't find the youngest boy's t shirt, but that is his hat." Guess he came home naked.

Here is the lettering up close on this cool matting. The girl's names run thru Boppa's Girls. Adorable.

This little compact is the best. For one, every girl needs a cute compact to check for spinich in the teeth and two, it is cute mother of pearl (ok, I just like to say, Mother of Pearl) with that cute heart (looks sorta brighton-ish). Not sure why the pic is sideways, probably because I forgot to turn the photo but you get the idea. This is a must have. Serious. $18

Ok, not super great photos....but I am attempting to show you these cute new keychains and little bling gemstones. I think these are the cutest little gift. Can you believe Easter is just around the corner? We have a tiny amount of Easter goodies out but I am still NOT buying for the shop until I have downscaled some of the other goods....I have fine-tuned my plan...(ok, I couldnt have an empty store) I am going to finish up my big sale and hopefully by the first part of May adjust my hours for framing and a few of my favorite things in the main part of the shop. I will be open on Wed, Thur and Fridays. I will be available by appt. any other day. But until then....I am still here Tue-Sat. If you haven't tried a Hobble Creek Candle before you are missing out. Trust me, they are the best candles around. I have tried many different kinds and these lead-free candles burn clean and are HIGHLY scented. They are the best. This Red Hot Cinnamon just happens to be one of my faves....yum.

I realize this looks like a messy bundle of sticks...okay, okay it is. I painted them red and put them in that urn for Christmas at my own house. Ok, it is official....the very last "must have Christmas present" framing just walked out the door! I am soooo excited. There is nothing better than having someone pick up their shadowbox and having tears come to their eyes and tell me this is going to be their best Christmas present ever! Ok, ok, this is a bad picture, I know....you try taking a picture of a mirror..........not so easy. I was attempting to get the cool monogram in the corner. I realize you might have to look fairly close to see it and even then it doesn't look like much BUT it really is cool. So you better just stop in and see it with your own two eyes! Just remember we can monogram/engrave/customize pretty much anything!

Oh, so what you cannot really see is a big H and beneath that it reads Established 1992. Yes, that was the year I got married to my big hunk of a man and yes, I was 11.

I can't believe Luke is a big 7th grader today! He was so funny this morning when he left with dad for school. He was not so hot on mom taking "first day of school" photos.......I made him do the same o'l poses....show me your new backpack, smile, pose with the dog....he is on the verge of being too cool for that. Then again, he is dang lucky I didn't follow him to school and take pictures of him opening his locker, posing by the North Albany Middle School sign, and standing with his first period teacher! I know where to draw the line! Ha!

Emma has her kindergarten "interview" tomorrow and then starts next Monday! Watch out! She is sooooo ready!

Ok, I know it is a hair early but these little cuties are so fun. They crack me up with their skinny little legs and funny expresions. They wont last long so I decided to put them out on the mantel now.....no worries, the rest of the shop is still Summer....I am not totally ready to be done with long summer days. Uh, are they the cutest or what? The wedding was absolutely spectacular. No detail was missed and the party was a blast! They got married in the neighbors beautiful yard and the reception moved to my sisters house that sits on acres and acres of Filbert trees.... gorgeous! Emma was a beautiful flower girl and was so adorable taking her job very seriously.

Lets be clear, this was a hard picture to take....lots of glare and not easy to get the little monogram....BUT trust me, it is gorgeous! It has a monogram with the bride and groom's first initial on either side and the wedding date below. We did a set of 8 of these for the toast for my niece's wedding this weekend. She doesn't know yet so it will be a nice surprise...plus she will love these forever. Oh, and I had a martini glass made for her bachelorette party with "Future Mrs. Swan" on the side and "Bottoms up Jessica!" engraved on the bottom of the glass...how cute will she be drinking out of that? Plus they are only $8! Super cute!

Ok, lame photo I know, I had a hard time getting a clear pic of the champagne glass without glare...here it is upclose....uh, hello, something the bride and groom are going to have for like, forever! Plus we can engrave the actual champagne bottle and this super cool champagne glass holder that goes over the neck of the champagne bottle with the date, a sweet saying, their names, whatever you want.....adorable!

Ok, this invitation is done on corian but can also be done on a tile, travertine, wood, marble, granite....pretty much anything you can think of. You can bring me an invitation and I can scan it in to the machine and it will engrave it on that surface......how cool is that?

I cannot believe school is almost out! Just a half day left and Luke will be a 7th grader! Here is a pic of Luke and I at his end of the year field trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It was fun! I am fairly certain he is not going to invite me on field trips for too many more years....even tho I am a super fun mom! :) Ha!

I love summer! Why can't it still be about riding my bike all day and coming home when the porch light came on? I remember swimming all day with no worries at all except who could come swimming with me the next day? Ahhh, the life! Emma is going to be a kindergartner next year is pretty excited about that! A whole new group of people to boss around! Wahoo!

The shop is going fine....still noticing the recession but I might be seeing a glimmer of hope? At least I pretend it is changing! :)I have a new project I am working on and will keep you posted on the progress. It is a piece of equipment I purchased but still have to learn the fine tuning before I unveil my new addition.

Next week we will be closed all week so I can enjoy a vacation with my family! I am so looking forward to laying in the sun on a houseboat at Shasta Lake! Yipeee!

I am sure you are wondering what in the world this little item is...well....these little soap dishes are genius! They come in several natural colors and look like leaves. They have a little slant that drains the water off and drips back into your sink. $8

How cute is this insulated lunch bag? Plus it expands to carry a big lunch which of course, is what I prefer....:) Just look at that lonely little apple in there...

My photos are not so great but these new bags are so nice. All styles come in black or brown and are beautiful. The clutch style purse on the right can be carried by the handles or like a clutch with the handles folded over or it even comes with a strap for over the shoulder. Adorable!

This big brown bag is big enough to carry your laptop or just a lot of very important "stuff".

The black bags are lined with red and the brown bags are lined in coral. There are six different styles to choose from and I of course will be needing one of every style...

Picked up my taxes today for the shop and then headed to my appt. for our personal taxes...running a little late this year but at least it is before the 15th...right? Whew. Ok, the new Hobble Creek wax melts have arrived. If you have a Scentsy pot, these are a must have! My absolute favorite candle line in the whole wide world just came out with these! They look a lot like the Scentsy brand ones and come in two sizes. The regular size with 6 cubes of wax and then a big one with 10 double sized cubes. These are seriously the best. I love them. The smaller ones are $4.75 each and the big bricks are $10 each. I am a Scentsy junkie so these totally made my day.

Yae! The sun is shining and I know it is cold out but it LOOKS like summer out. Wahoo. I have a few new things to show that are adorable. For starters....

These super cute little tidbit bowls are so nice. For one, if you want to do your prep work and pretend you are Rachel Ray when you prepare dinner these work great. OR...if you want to put ranch in these to dip your carrots or tater tots...again, great.

Ok, and these little coasters are a crack up...they are reversible and say, "Friends don't let friends take home ugly men." or the little purse pill box reads, "Mommy's little helpers" Priceless.

There is a whole series of the cute pillboxes, compacts, business card holders and coasters. I love them all. The packaging is the cutest too. Great gift for a girlfriend. Plus, they fit in a little padded envelope perfect and wahlah! you are the best friend ever...

Ok, the last time I looked out the sun WAS shining and now I see several dark clouds....I was loving the Spring weather! More darling things arrived at the Pear today. Posting a couple of pictures of them....love the sassy stripe porch pillows and matching welcome mats....we also have a new candle line that is yummy. More cool things have arrived at the Golden Pear all week. I am freaking out about their cuteness factor. Does the grey weather, poor ecomomy, slow weekend plans, bad hairday, whatever...got you down? Fear no more...a little pick me up (totally affordable) is what you need. I am so serious. I "Springed up" my entry table at home with bright yellow and apple green and now every evening when I drag my weary behind in the door I am welcomed by that fresh look and swear I feel a tad happier. I am not lying. Wait until you see all the great stuff we have and again, not lying, great bargains. Plus, the UPS man just walked in the door about 2 minutes ago with MORE! So I ordered adorable Christmas stuff on Tuesday and today I ordered the cutest, most fresh colors of dishtowel sets! They are the best! 100% cottton and really absorb water...plus sweet cake stands and oh! bright colored pillows and matching welcome mats for your porch this Spring! Then....when I was on a roll....I ordered a new candle line and accesories and some great faux rosemary topiaries, wire nests and chicks, beautiful wreaths for your front door and so much more.........oh god, aren't we in a recession? Everything will be shipping next week so give me a few days and then come see our fresh new Spring look! I can hardly wait.

Oh and now I have to show you all the sweet Easter stuff I put out today! I want it all. Especially those salt and pepper shakers! Adorable. See you soon!

Valentie's Day was great...just posting a picture of our dinner on Saturday. We had a great eve. and I love my friends.

Here at the shop...I ordered Christmas stuff ALL DAY LONG. It is so crazy since we just had Christmas but the stuff for next year is soooooooooo cute. I really wanted to take down Valentine's day stuff and put up all the adorable Easter stuff but it did not get done. Hopefully tomorrow I will be really ambitious. :)

Ok, two things...still freezing cold here....the new furnace is ordered but cannot be done until Monday. Until then....my little teeth are chattering and everyone who walks in goes, "Wow, it is cold in here!"

Secondly, I finally figured out how to post a picture IN my post! I am embarrased to say I could not figure that out but I stumbled upon it by accident and now I am like a real blogger. Whew.

So I added a pictue of my new favorite thing we have here! The book crops came! They are so cool. And we got new wallets and checkbook covers from Rural Vixen. Adorable. Gotta go, my fingers are so cold I cannot type...

Ok, I just want to rant for a moment...

I get to work this morning and it is sooooooo cold in here. The furnace won't kick on and the thermometer reads 54 degrees in here. So, I called someone to come fix it and it was good news. He got it going and the new part was only going to be like $200....no problem. Then about 20 minutes went by and he was long gone and brrrr...cold again. So, I called him and he came right back only this time he brought this fancy schmancy camera thing that went into the heat ducts to see what was up....bad news.

Now, I am getting a whole new furnace in the next two days....ugh. I like to spend my money on fun stuff...not furnaces...feel bad for me, will ya? So here is a little photo of the sweet little space heater I am huddled around........it has gotten to a crisp 60 degrees in here after running for three hours....no problem.

It is so beautiful out! The sun is shinning but it is really cold out! Brrr.
Ashley and I spent the past two days working like crazy getting Christmas out of here and new stuff in! It is beginning to shape up! New great finds will be arriving next week. I will surely post a picture of my fave new item that is en route! They are called "bookcrops" and are passages taken from books mounted on a board. OK, you just gotta see them. Trust me, they are great and look fabulous mixed in with family pictures on your wall.

I can't believe it but I am still taking down Christmas decor here at the shop...
I am slow and try to find anything else to do to avoid it but it is almost done. I was all worked up about getting it done as quick as I could but then I decided....why? No rush, take it easy. So I am. :) I posted a few new photos of some of my favorite projects lately. I have been loving adding vinyl lettering directly to the mat to make it oh so personal.
It has been fairly slow but I always expect that in January. I am hanging on, no worries. I feel the economy will be coming around by Spring and am holding onto that positive thought!

Ok, you know how much you hate taking down all the Christmas decorations and the tree? Imagine doing it all at home and then coming to work to do it all again in an even bigger scale...ok, so I am whining a little. It is so not fun to dismantle trees and take ornaments down and see all the sad little things that did not sell this year. Thankfully, it is a fraction of what we put out in October but it is still some stuff just the same. So, right now the Golden Pear looks a little sad...all bare and naked waiting for Valentines stuff to come out! Just a couple more days of cleaning and putting away and I should be ready to re-do! I did get to peek at the Easter stuff this morning and it is soooo cute! I can't wait to get some of it out and all the fun Spring colors! It won't be too long!

Christmas was wonderful. I am pretty sure my whole family got everything they wanted! wow. John is home right now playing with Pixos and Bendaroos with Emma and I am so glad I HAD to go to work! You can only make so many beaded creatures and flowers........:) Everything Christmas is half price at the Golden Pear. Lots of bargain shoppers out today. I am just so content sitting here with my mocha and knowing I got all the Christmas framing gifts done and out on the 23rd! Yahoo! Hope everyone had a spectacular Christmas! We are going to be closed next week so I can hang out with my family and hit the slopes! I will get my fill of making flowers out of bendi sticks and beaded necklaces and playing Rockband with Luke!!!! Happy New Year!

Hi! Only six days until Christmas! Can that be right? What is going on with this weather? Luke was so disappointed there was school again today. Me=very happy. Emma went back today for the first day this week which she was elated about it because she just happens to be "Star of the Week" in her class and thought she might miss the whole thing. There is a bulletin board in her room with all sorts of photos of her and she gets to wear a star around her neck all day!
I am finishing up some framing projects people are giving for Christmas and is looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Wahoo!

The day after Christmas and the next day (Friday and Saturday) all Christmas decor will be 50% off! Then we will be closed the whole next week for a little hiatus for Laura. We plan on a little skiing and relaxing. Enjoy these last few days before Christmas!

All is well here at the Golden Pear. Today is the last day to order signs for Christmas giving. They are such a great personalized gift and everyone always loves them! I have been a framing freak for days and days and just trying to keep my head above water. I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I made lots of promises that it looks like I will keep. Whew. So, if I am framing your great grandma's photo and I said it will be done by Christmas eve, guess what? It will be.
This weekend is my 16th wedding anniversary and John and I are headed out of town. My dear friend, Shari will be working on Saturday so I can have a day off which I truly appreciate! I wish I was telling you we were headed to Cancun for the weekend but no such luck. We are headed to Portland to do some shopping and then on up the Columbia Gorge to a B & B. It will be fun. One of these years we will be going somewhere hot and tropical I am sure.....

Two weeks from tomorrow is Christmas so get going on that shopping!

It has been a super busy week at the Golden Pear! We decorated a tree for the Boys and Girls Club and it turned out sooooooo great. Thanks to my sister, Marla, Patti and Alexa Daskalos and my cousin, Ashley for all of your help. Our tree was a hit at the auction last night and I am sorry I don't have a picture to post. It went for $1250.00 which is all donated to the club!

Mandy and I are headed up to Salem tonight for a Karen Russell scrapbooking class. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! Have a great weekend!

Ok, so today has never been a big day for the Golden Pear. Everyone is looking for big deals at big stores. John and I even went out this morning before dawn........ugh. It was pretty awful to tell you the truth. So many people and pushy people i might add. Not too much action here at the golden pear but I got a lot done. We still have such cute UNIQUE Christmas goodies. I finally got to go to some big stores this morning and I must admit we have some gems you wont find out at the mall. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and relaxing day after. I wanted to post a few pictures of some pictures I have framed recently that I love!

I cannot believe Thanksgiving is almost here...wow. I am so ready for a yummy turkey dinner and hanging out with my family. I am truly thankful for a lot of things this year. After watching the Today show in the mornings I am always so stressed about the economy and what lies ahead for our country, but am also so thankful for the house I live in, the job I have, basically the privileged life I live compared to some folks who don't know where their next meal will come from. Wow, that was one long sentence that I am sure my English teacher friends will not like....sorry. Anyway, the Golden Pear is plugging along. It will not be our best Christmas year financially but we are still in business and for the most part I still love it. There are days when I say I don't, but I really do. It can be a lot of work owning your own business but also very rewarding. Well, I better rush home to get ready for 16 people for dinner tomorrow night. It is Luke's 12Th birthday!!!! Oh, and his life would be complete if he received a cell phone for his birthday....sorry son, so not gonna happen. I know, I know, he is the last one on the planet that doesn't have one...I am holding out...:)

Just letting everyone know about a very cool 2.5 mile Memorial Walk coming up on Thanksgiving morning! It is in honor of Boey Byers, a local little girl who lost her battle with cancer last year. The proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity of Albany, Mid-Valley Lions club, Sparrow Clubs USA and FISH of Albany. It starts at Ray's Market in North Albany on Thanksgiving morning at 9am. A great way to start your Thanksgiving so you can justify that pumpkin pie and whipped cream later and to get out of mom's hair while she is busy...
It only costs $10 and you get a t-shirt! There is two other runs that morning for my silly runner friends...a 3.75 mile run down Thorton Lake Drive and a 5.2 mile Scenic Challenge. Framing like crazy!

This year with the economy so sluggish everyone is wondering what to buy for Christmas...honestly I am in the same predicament...
I know this sounds like a pitch and OK, it sorta is but seriously want to give something they will keep forever and will become a family treasure? Of course you do. Custom framing baby! Frame up that cool old picture of your grandpa or shadowbox dad's college football memorabilia. I am serious. These gifts make people cry. They keep it in the family forever and if done right, in neutral colors and U.V. glass it will look great for well as long as you are alive...
Trendy clothes come and go, although I would take a pair of Ugg boots if anyone is asking. Christmas decorations are fun but really how many can you have? Although we have tons of absolutely adorable Christmas decorations you should really come buy....I am sure some of these could become family heirlooms if you really wanted them too.
Anywho, falling behind in my framing. People are planning ahead this year and I am very thankful for that. Remember framing takes a few weeks.... hope all is well and everyone had a spectacular Veterans day!

The Holidays have arrived at the Pear!

The sneak peek open house last night was a smashing success! We always like to predict what will be hot sellers and what won't be...OK, so the pine scented ornaments for your fake tree were hot and we knew they would be...as were the monogram ornaments and the adorable dip bowls. But the candle operated flickering glitter tapers and pillars were not as hot as I thought? I was shocked! They are one of my top faves. Not that people didn't get them but I had to point out how great they were???? We still have a few of the tapers left and several of the pillar candles. They are very cool! Thank you to everyone who came to the open house last night. It was very fun and I now officially feel like the season has began. I am rocking to Michael Bolton's Christmas right now and feel like eating some (more) peppermint bark....yum! Although I am missing my tennis shoes and sweats from last week....

Ok, I am sorry I am not posting any pictures like I said I would...I forgot my camera and have been crazy busy setting everything up. I think it is all ready to go! The Christmas music is playing as I write and the wine is chilling. The Golden Pear is as Christmasy as it gets. There are too many things to list that I love anyway. I realize a whole week has gone by since I blogged...sorry, I know that is a sin in blog world.
Mandy and I had a spectacular weekend in Sisters. The foliage on the drive over and back was so beautiful. I remember my parents driving up the Gorge in the fall to see my grandma and every year they would marvel at the beautiful fall colors and every year I would overlook whatever they were seeing. I remember thinking, uh, have they never seen yellow and orange leaves before? Now I am doing the same thing they did. Pointing it out to my poor kids how beautiful the trees look, loving the smell of the crisp fall air....
Mandy and I did lots of shopping, eating at yummy restaurants, and even spent Sunday at a great spa in Sisters called Shibui www.fivepinelodge.com/shibui/about.php We also both got new quilting projects at The Stitchin' Post. Love that store!
Ok, so the whole week has been dedicated to decorating for Christmas.... don't be alarmed, I know it is Halloween today. In Retail world if you don't have Christmas out this week, you are a slacker...I have a big crew of great little elves helping me. You are not going to believe this place. It is going to be so full of Christmas goodies....whew....

Have a great Halloween and I hope the darn rain stops so Emma can rock out in her Hannah Montana costume (complete with blonde wig and microphone) and everyone can get loads and loads of candy....just what every kid needs...

Yae! It is finally Thursday! Tonight I am having a Scentsy party here at the shop at 6:30 and everyone is more than welcome to come. It should be fun and I do love scentsy. Plus we will have yummy treats and wine. Also some cold beer for the few who, "do not like wine, not even the smell of it!" (you know who you are.) I have been working diligently on getting framing orders finished so I don't fall behind next week when we are closed. Yep, closed all week long to decorate for the holidays! Every year I think a week seems like more than enough time to get it all out and decorated super cute and every year I am still scrambling 20 minutes before the open house....not this year. You just wait, I will be so un-stressed, probably reading a novel and getting a manicure right before the open house this year....
